About the Photographer

Barbara began taking photographs when she was a young child, growing up in Ohio, encouraged by her mother, Selma. Over the years, she continued shooting mostly snapshots. But when she was in her junior year of high school, her folks took her to Sun Valley, Idaho and a whole new landscape opened up to her and created her lifelong passion for photography.
She is well-traveled, having visited all 50 states and many foreign countries. Her camera has been her steady companion, capturing the beauty of the earth. That earthly beauty is truly her inspiration. She hopes that her images will inspire others to take the best possible care of our universe so that it will be here for our children and new generations to enjoy, respect and in awe.

Barbara has been exhibiting her work in Arizona, mainly in Pinal and Gila County as well as Mesa, most recently at Boyce Thompson Arboretum, the Cobre Valley Center for the Arts and at Superstition Mountain Museum in Apache Junction. One of her images, “Monarch on Golden Bells” was chosen for the March, 2010 cover of Leisure Lifestyle in Gold Canyon and its four affiliated publications.
She has been fortunate to have participated in two Arizona Highways Workshop Tours and was thrilled to work with Gary Ladd and David Muench at the weeklong sessions, respectively. The first workshop took place at Lake Powell and the second workshop included the North Rim of the Grand Canyon and the Slot Canyons in Page, Arizona.
Arizona is her adopted state and she feels that the canvas and palette of its rugged scenery provide exquisite material for capturing with a camera. Barbara's photographs are not manipulated. What you see is the image she captured.
